What is the legal Tint Percentage in Texas?
Front Side Windows:
The legal limit for tint on front side windows is 25% VLT (Visible Light Transmission) - meaning they must allow at least 25% of light to pass through.
Back Side Windows:
Unlike front side windows, there are no restrictions on the tint darkness for back side windows. You can have any percentage of tint you prefer on these windows.
Rear Window:
Similar to back side windows, there are no limitations on the tint darkness for the rear window. You can choose any VLT percentage you like, including a completely dark tint.
Windshield:
A clear (un-tinted) UV film is allowed anywhere on the front windshield without a medical exemption being required.
A non-reflective strip can extend up to the top five inches.
